Amanda Chwelos (b. 1996) is a multidisciplinary artist and graphic designer based in Edmonton-amiskwaciwâskahikan whose work explores themes of introspection, banality, existential anxiety, and acceptance. Driven by a material-based practice, she works primarily in painting and drawing.
Chwelos holds a BFA from the University of Alberta (2019) and remains an active member in both the Edmonton arts community and the broader Albertan arts community. Her work has been subject to many group exhibitions including The Mirror, The Echo, The Panopticon at The Esplanade Arts & Heritage Center in Medicine Hat and Fully Realized at Latitude 53 in Edmonton. Most recently, Chwelos exhibited her first out-of-town solo exhibition titled Soft enough to slip through at the Southern Alberta Art Gallery in Lethbridge, Alberta.
Chwelos’ recent graphic design works include the exhibition catalogue Memory Palace for Gabriel Esteban Molina and Latitude 53, and the exhibition catalogue I don’t know how, but I’m taller for the 2023 BFA class at the University of Alberta.
